Mr. Alfred Olin Fowler, age 74 of Shelby, NC, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, November 21, 2014 at Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory Chapel conducted by Rev. Jeff Hayes and Rev. Chad Hayes. A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:30 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Emily (Church) Fowler of the home, a daughter, Janet Walker and husband John of Shelby, NC, a son, Tony Fowler and wife Jenny of Boiling Springs, SC, four grandchildren, Nicole Crawford, of Shelby, NC, Jonathan Walker of Shelby, NC, A.J. Fowler of Spartanburg, SC, and Brittany Fowler of Spartanburg, SC, and seven great grandchildren, Abby Crawford, Will Crawford, Abbie Fowler, Brian Fowler, Landree Vasquez, Ari Vasquez, and Havyn Vasquez.
Born April 5, 1940 in Una, SC, Mr. Fowler was the son of the late Clyde and Mabel (Burch) Fowler and is preceded in death by two brothers, William Fowler and Tommy Fowler, and a sister, Betty Tapp. Mr. Fowler was a member of the Living Light Baptist Church in Shelby where he served as a Trustee and the bus driver, picking up the children and taking them to Sunday Service. Alfred worked and retired after 25 years of service from Overnight Transportation. Mr. Fowler enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Walker, Shannon Crawford, Stephen Brown, Randy Hayes, Benjamin Edwards and Jacob Brown.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to the staff at Kings Mountain Hospice House.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Living Light Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1328, Shelby, NC 28151.
