Mrs. Barbara Ann (Queen) Williams, age 73 of Shelby, NC, met her Savior Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Kings Mountain Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tony Sisk. A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow after the service at Cleveland Memorial Park.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 28 years, Jesse Williams of the home, six children, Charlie and Debbie of Shelby, NC; Kris Morrow Lahrmer and John of Mooresboro, NC; J.L. Williams and wife April of Shelby, NC; Brenda Green and husband David of Mooresboro, NC; Judy Smith and husband Larry of Jacksonville, FL; and Alice Willis and husband Gene of Shelby, NC; two brothers, Ronnie Queen and wife Catherine of Kings Mountain, NC; and Roger Queen and wife Peggy of Mooresboro, NC; two sisters, Betty Cooper and husband Larry of Mooresboro, NC; and Vickie Davis and husband Wayne of Mooresboro, NC; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, a special furry companion, Max, a sister-in-law, Sarah Williams of Cherryville, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews
Born May 19, 1941 in Shelby, NC, Mrs. Williams is the daughter of Estelle (Martin) VanHorn and the late A.V. Queen and was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Queen, and a grandson, Matthew Morrow. Barbara graduated from Shelby High School. After graduation, she traveled with her military husband. She loved auctions, bowling, flea markets, yard sales, the many years camping with her husband Jesse, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. A member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Mrs. Williams was an active member, making prayer shawls and baby blankets. Barbara had a great sense of humor and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Morrow, J.L. Williams, Keatley Lathrop, John Lahrmer, Roger Queen and Gene Willis.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Carolina Care Center and Kings Mountain Hospice House for the loving care they gave Barbara.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28152.
