Bernie Hoyle

May 24, 1925 — April 12, 2014

Bernie Anderson Hoyle of Shelby went to meet his Lord and Savior on April 12, 2014, at Kings Mountain Hospice. He was born on May 24, 1925, in Rutherford County to the late Belo Andy and Lillie Florence Ross Hoyle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Hoyle; and sisters, Modene Landis and Ruth Kimbrell.

Bernie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. Bernie was also a barber in Cleveland County for more than 50 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Nellie R. Hoyle, son, Larry Hoyle and Nellie of Havre, Mont.; daughters, Carolyn Cash and Cindy Hudson and Pete all of Shelby; daughter, Tami Grady of Drexel; step-son, Steve Whisnant of Ellenboro; stepdaughter, Carol McHenry of Forest City; brothers, Herman and Robert Hoyle of Bostic; sisters, Lillian Greene of Kings Mountain and Ruby Hutchins of Morganton.

Bernie also leaves behind his grandchildren, Andy Hoyle & wife, Noelle, Wally Hoyle & wife, Wendy, Carla Gullatte & husband, Kevin, Chad Cash & wife, Erin, Justin Crump, Julie Crump, Jillian Grady, Stephanie Hudson, Billy Hudson & wife, Tiffany; great grandchildren, Jonathan Hoyle, Ryan Hoyle, Breanna Hoyle, Cheyenne Cash, Kameron Gullatte, Kevin Gullatte, Jr., Jack Cash, Cali Cash, Dalton Crump, Jonas Crump, Emma Hudson; great great grandchild, Rylan Gullatte; step grandchildren, Andrea, Kim, Leann, Alicia, Michael, Brandon, Shanna, Alana, Marie, Kenny, Rye, Michael, Tyler, J.T., & Brett.

His family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. on Monday at Landmark Baptist Church in Shelby.

Bernie's funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Landmark Baptist with the Reverends Allen L. Davis, Larry Hoyle and Wally Hoyle officiating.

Interment will be held at a later date in the Western North Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery, Black Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kings Mountain, 321 Kings Mountain Blvd., Kings Mountain, NC 28086 or Landmark Baptist Missions, P.O. 489, Shelby, NC 28151.
