Bertie Lovelace Martin

Mrs. Bertie Jane Blalock Lovelace Martin, age 88 of Mooresboro, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her children, Johnnie Lovelace and wife Penny of Rutherfordton, NC, and Jane Price and husband Ronald of Cliffside, NC, five grandchildren, Matthew Lovelace of Rutherfordton, NC, Rhonda Wright and husband Jody of Ellenboro, NC, Elizabeth Mace and husband Kenny of Ellenboro, NC, Myra Medford of Cliffside, NC, and Rebecca Pintuff and husband Justin of Sunshine, NC, eight great grandchildren, Ashley Wright, Jay Wright, Storm Mace, Marina Mace, Caitlyn Medford, Caleb Medford, Jenna Pintuff, and Maci Pintuff.
Born October 3, 1927 in Gaffney, SC, Mrs. Martin was the daughter the late Morris and Marie (Kirby) Blalock and was preceded by her two husbands, Johnnie Thomas Lovelace and Raleigh Newton Martin and two great grandchildren, Brandon and Blake Wright.
Mrs. Martin graduated from Mooresboro High School in 1944 where she played on the basketball team and later attended Gardner Webb College. Bertie worked and retired from Federal Crop Insurance where she worked as an office manager. She was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church. Bertie enjoyed shopping, traveling, going to the lake and camping, watching her hummingbirds, and spending time with her family and friends. Bertie's family had a rich history in agriculture growing cotton. She will be missed by those that knew her.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Sandy Run Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andrew Rawls. A visitation will be held following the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park.
