Bob Gantt

Mr. Gantt, 80, of 601 Wilson Cornwell Road, Shelby, NC passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was a farmer & had worked for 42 years at Waldensian Bakery as a checker. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church, where he was a former coach of the R. A. Baseball and Softball Teams. Mr. Gantt was preceded in death by his parents Oscar Gantt & Lura Wright Gantt, a son Thomas Steve Gantt, a brother Henry Ray Gantt, and two sisters Pearl Wellmon & Rachel Wellmon. Mr. Gantt is survived by his wife of 58 years Elizabeth Howard Gantt of the home, sons and their wives; Louis Gantt & Barbara of the home, Larry Gantt & Teresa of Lawndale, NC, Ricky Gantt & Marilyn of Shelby, NC, a daughter Teresa Thrift & fiance, Rusty Hargraves of Boiling Springs. Mr. Gantt's grandchildren are Jason Gantt & fiance Tracy Carpenter, Katie & Christopher Sparks and Kinsey Gantt, great grandchildren are Savanna Gantt, Easton Freeman, MaKaylee Gantt. In addition to these Mr. Gantt is survived by brothers Don Gantt & wife Ioma, and Jim Gantt both of Shelby, sister Jessie Rodriguez & husband John of Nebo, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews and other special friends. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Tim Elmore pastor of Zion Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church Youth, 525 West Zion Church Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
