Calvin Collins

Mr. Collins, 84, of 933 Church Street, Shelby, passed away Friday 12-26-2008 at Crawley Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Henderson County, NC, and had worked for Dicey Mills & retired from Bost Bakery after 14 years of service. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and served in the U. S. Army during WW II in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Collins was preceeded in death by his parents Fred Huntley Collins & Lela Hyder Collins, one son Floyd Collins, three brothers and one grandson.
Mr. Collins is survived by a son Russell Collins of Ellenboro, NC, daughters and their husbands Judy Short & Phil, Sheila Nalley & Billy, Carolyn Johnson & Danny all of Shelby, and Pam Williams & Kelly of Lawndale, NC. In addition to these he is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren & one great great grandchild.
Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Joseph Porter.
