Calvin Cooper

March 6, 1925 — August 6, 2008

Mr. Cooper, 83, of 161 Broadway Drive, Shelby, NC passed away Wednesday at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He retired from Royster Oil Co. as a tanker driver and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Cooper's parents were the late Amos Cooper & Hattie Walker Cooper, and he was also preceeded in death by a grandson Gary Cooper, brothers Arthur, Yates, Woodrow, Toy, Roy, & Ralph Cooper, and sisters Ruth Mintz & Rachel Cooper.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 66 years Pearl Towery Cooper of the home, son's Jerry Cooper, Larry Cooper & wife Betty all of Mooresboro, daughters Gail Hollifield & Barbara Fitch & husband Mike both of Shelby, and a special daughter Mitzie Thacker of Shelby. Mr. Cooper is also survived by two brothers and their wives Harrill Cooper & Diane, and Evans Cooper & Edna all of Shelby; two sister-in-laws Bertha Cooper of Lattimore and Gertrude Cooper of Shelby. His grandchildren are; Robert Wayne Cooper & wife Angie, Tracy Cooper, Donnie Cooper, Larry Wayne Cooper, Daniel Amos Cooper & wife Angie, Angela Patrice, Jessica Owens & husband Jay, Michelle Perry, Bryan Fitch & wife Tracy, 27 great grandchildren, great great grandchildren6 and his canine companion Ginger. A special thanks is extended to his friends at the Dialysis Clinic.
