Calvin Spargo

Mr. Spargo, 97, of Autumn Care of Marshville, NC passed away at Autumn Care Wednesday, August 12, 2009. A native of Stanley, NC, he was the son of the late Calvin L. Spargo & Lula Gaston Spargo. He was a retired Washington, DC fireman where he served for 25 years, and also served in the U. S. Marines. He was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. In addition to his parents Mr. Spargo was preceeded in death by his wife Virginia Hovis Spargo and a son Calvin Richard Spargo. Mr. Spargo is survived by a son and his wife Joseph Vincent Spargo & Susan of Shady Side, MD., a daughter-in-law Linda Spargo of Matthews, NC, grandchildren Lisa Ann Palla, Anthony Vincent Spargo, Calvin Daniel Spargo, Thomas Henry Spargo & James Clayton Spargo, and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by his grandson, Tony Spargo. Memorials may be made to Double Springs Baptist Church, 1130 Double Springs Church Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
