Carolyn Powell

Mrs. Carolyn Grace McSwain Powell, age 80, of Boiling Springs, NC, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Friday, December 26, 2014 at Boiling Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Carroll Page and Rev. Wesley Smith. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
She is survived by a son, Jeff Powell and wife Lydia of Boiling Springs, NC, two daughters, Judith Whitmore of Earl, NC, and Judy Everett and husband Michael of Grover, NC, seven grandchildren, Kimberly Haydt and husband Fredrick of Charlotte, NC, Michelle Everett of Conover, NC, Justin Everett of Grover, NC, Jennifer Everett of Kings Mountain, NC, Jacob Powell of Boiling Springs, NC, Sarah Powell of Boiling Springs, NC, and Leah Powell of Boiling Springs, NC, seven great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, a brother, Bobby McSwain of Cleveland Co., NC, two sisters, Madge Harris of Boiling Springs, NC, and Betty Blanton of Cleveland Co., NC, and several nieces and nephews.
Born April 7, 1934 in Cleveland Co., Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Cluff and Eunice (Pruitt) McSwain and was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Guy Evans Powell. Carolyn graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1952. After graduation, she worked several different jobs before retiring from PPG in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding the birds, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
The family would like to express a sincere thanks to Jean, Marie, and all the other caregivers that help look after Carolyn during her time at home.
