Carson Hamrick

August 8, 1921 — December 17, 2009

Mr. Hamrick, 88, of Shelby, NC passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, NC, he was associated with his father in the operation of M. H. Hamrick & Sons Wholesale Distributors for 36 years and was co-founder and operator of Hamrick Homes for 40 years. A lifelong member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, he was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 202, a Shriner in Oasis Temple in Charlotte and was honored for being a member for 50 years. Mr. Hamrick served in the U. S. Army-Air Corp during WW II with the medics at Ft George Wright in Spokane, Washington. He travled extensively and was an avid bridge player. Mr. Hamrick was preceded in death by his parents Morris H. Hamrick & Anna H. Hamrick, and a brother Gene Hamrick. Mr. Hamrick is survived by his wife of 57 years Dot Mathis Hamrick of the home, two sons; Mike Hamrick & wife Betty, and David Hamrick & special friend Helen Emery all of Shelby, and a granddaughter Bailey Elizabeth Hamrick of Boone, NC. Funeral services will conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Black, Dr. Paul Sorrells, and Rev. Phil Hughes. Memorials may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church Building Fund, 123 Beaver Dam Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152.
