Charles Byers

Mr. Charles Herman Byers, age 80 of Hildebran, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Barbara Ann Griffith Byers of the home, his children, Brian Byers of Chesnee, SC, Fred Hunter (Sandy) of Mays Landing, NJ, Kimberly Hunter of Hildebran, NC, Barbara Arrowood (Kevin) of Blacksburg, SC, and John Reed of Rock Hill, SC, five grandchildren, Brandon Byers, Conlee Hunter, Preston Hunter, Nicole Errickson, and Ashley Baker, three great grandchildren, Annabell Pennington, Bailey Baker, and Hunter Baker, a sister, Mildred Willis of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born August 5, 1942, in Rutherford County, NC, Herman was the son of the late Lloyd Andrew Byers and Minnie Lucile Leach Byers and was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.

Herman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.  He enjoyed working with wood building numerous crafts.  Herman also enjoyed knitting and spending time with his family and friends.  Herman served as a Scoutmaster for more than 20 years with Troop 999.  He worked and retired after 38 years from Celanese Textile as an operator.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 31, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Russ Bradley.  A visitation will be held from 1:00pm – 2:00pm prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the New Hope Baptist Church Building Fund, 2621 Blacksburg Road, Earl NC  28038.
