Charles B. Christie of Boiling Springs, NC , born 4-29-1926 passed away 4-25-11. Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles H. Christie, his mother Docia H. Christie, his wife Betty D. Christie and his daughter Gail Day. He is survived by daughters Pam & husband Jim Cantrell of Lincon County, Barbara Christie of Charlotte along with five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Jennifer, Cory, Jessica, Jacob and Taylor and great grandchildren Makayla and Alyssa. Charles is also survived by sisters Dorothy C. Vaughn of Boiling Springs and Betty C. Edens of Pelzer, SC along with numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Charles served in the Navy during WWII and began his professional career in the Navy Dept. with Admiral Rickover's nuclear project. Charles received his BS degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and his MS degree from Penn State. He was an engineer for several aerospace companies working in conjunction with NASA and other classified projects for many years and retired from UNC Charlotte as professor of Electronis Engineering Emeritus. Charles was a devoted Christian with a great sense of humor and a genuine zest for life who enjoyed people, fishing and wood carving. He was a very bright light that was beloved by all who knew him and he will be missed. The viewing will be at the Boiling Springs Baptist Church, Thursday 4-28-11 at 5 PM followed by services at 7 PM. The internment will be Friday 4-29-11 at 11 AM at Cleveland Memorial Park.
