Clyde Hopper

Mr. Hopper, 77, of 2554 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Shelby, NC passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he had been employed as a prison guard at the N, C. Department of Corrections. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the American Legion. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hopper was preceded in death by his parents Gardie Hopper & Sally Smith Hopper, six brothers, and two sisters. Mr. Hopper is survived by two sons; Michael Lee Hopper and fiance Lisa Sheppard of Grover, NC, and Richard Clyde Hopper and wife Rolanda also of Grover, NC, two sisters Hannah Padgett of Shelby, and Sara H. Bridges of Ellenboro, NC, and a sister-in-law Mary Hopper of Gastonia. In addition to these Mr. Hopper is also survived by grandchildren Stacy Hopper, Ronald Adam Smith, James Michael Hopper, Richard Christopher Hopper, Phillip Casey Hopper, Marissa Jane Hamrick, Mitchell Sheppard, and Zachery Sheppherd, great grandchildren Alijah Smith, Julian Smith, Daylin Lee Hopper, and Iasbella Smith. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Jamerson Williams pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
