Mr. Clyde Rucker Koone, 93, of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.
He was the son of the late Addie Joe Koone and Ola Mae Rollins Koone.
Clyde was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where he was part of the Original Couples Sunday school class. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Korean war.
He is survived by his daughter, Grace Clark of Lincolnton, NC, ten grandchildren, Katie Sparrow (Warren) of Rutherfordton, NC, Valerie Brown (Tom) of Mauldin, SC, Matt Guffey of Ellenboro, NC, Kelly Reynolds (Chad) of Polkville, NC, Kim Gettys of Shelby, NC, Ashley Horton-Hill (Baxter Hill) of Mooresboro, NC, Josh Houser (Casey) of Mooresboro, NC, Heather Upton (Kimmy) of Lincolnton, NC, Nathan Bumgarner of Lincolnton, NC, and Carmen Clark of Lincolnton, NC, 26 great grandchildren, two sisters, Ruby Cole of Hendersonville, NC, and Daisy Daughtry of Spindale, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances (Guffey) Koone, three children, Mitchell Guffey, Michael Guffey, and Freda Dial, a granddaughter, Brandy Guffey, three brothers, Bill Koone, Woodrow Koone, and Paul Koone, and two sisters, Bonnie Koone, and Myrtle Padgett.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Cleveland Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Aaron Hinton.
