D. Black

Mr. Black, 93, of 199 Pleasant Ridge Church Road, Shelby, NC, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was a farmer and a carpenter with Hamrick Construction Co. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Calvary and served on New Caldonia in the Philippines. Mr. Black was preceeded in death by his parents Marion Columbus Black & Bertha Ledford Black, his wife Ruby Frances McCraw Black, two brothers Clingman Black and Amos Black, and a sister Alfie Delozier. Mr. Black is survived by a son and his wife Kenny Black & Donna of Graham, NC, two daughters Freida Jones and husband Wayne of Blacksburg, SC, and Brenda Morrison and husband Roger of Shelby, NC. Mr. Black's grandchildren are Dusty Black & Jennifer, Kody Black, Kolton Black, Kannan Black, Kassidy Black, Branson Black, Sgt. Clint Morrison & Heather, Jessica Morrison, Leslie Cobb, Tommy, Pam Ruppe & Brandon, a step grandson Ben Morrison and a step granddaughter Tammy Crotts & Kale. Mr. Black also has four great grandchildren Alexis Cobb, Caitlin Cobb, Levi Ruppe & Lucas Ruppe. Funeral services will be conducted by the Dr. Eric Davis, Rev. Andy Oliver and Rev. Brian Harris.
