Debra Smith Koontz

Mrs. Debra Jo Smith Koontz, 60, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Wendover Hospice House surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, David Koontz of the home, two brothers, Danny Smith of Mooresboro, NC, David Smith and wife Pat of Boiling Springs, NC and a sister, Ann Oaks and husband Richard of Boiling Springs, NC.
Born May 29, 1956 in Spartanburg County, SC, Mrs. Koontz was the daughter of the late Walter Junior Smith and Nancy Green Smith and was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela McAllister and a sister, Judy Wall.
Debra worked as a Hospice CNA for more than 16 years. Mrs. Koontz was a faithful member of Sisk Memorial Missionary Methodist Church. Debra's family was her life and she was always concerned for them. She enjoyed her family and her church and will be missed by those that knew her.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Fairview Missionary Methodist Church, 128 Fairview Road, Mooresboro conducted by Rev. Frank Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
