Mrs. Hullender, 91, a resident of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center for the past 11 years passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at her residence. A native of Cleveland County, Mrs. Hullender was a creative homemaker, savory cook, magical "green thumb" and loving mother. Mrs. Hullender spent her entire life providing for her family, children, and friends before a stroke in March 2000. At an early age she professed Christ and lived a servant's faithful, generous and humble life. The family thanks the CPNC staff for over 11 years of care and Hospice for ene-of-life comfort the last 14 months. Mrs. Hullender was preceded in death by her parents Flay Oscar and Affie Ledford Ellis, her former husbands Glenn Davis and George Hullender, a son William Hullender, and two infant children, and all her siblings Ves "Curly" Ellis, Colon Ellis, Clayton Ellis, Hubert Ellis, Lois Brendle, Leecie Austin, Mary Thomas, and Betty Blanton Seay. Mrs. Hullender is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Billy & Deborah Davis of Hendersville, Bobby and Sandra Hullender of Shelby, three daughters; Evelyn "Susie" Hullender of Fallston, Elaine Whisnant and husband Gearld and Anita Hullender all of Shelby, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Ken Crabb.
