Edna Philbeck

Mrs. Philbeck, 89, of 1109 Whit-Mar Lake Rd., Shelby passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 at her home. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Hadden Melton & Venie Lou Toney Melton. In addition to parents she was also preceeded in death by her husband David Earl Philbeck, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, & 2 grandchildren. Mrs. Philbeck was a beloved mother and grandmother, a homemaker and a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Philbeck is survived by daughters, Mary Whisnant of Polkville, Brenda Beam of Cherryville, Sybil Edwards of Polkville, sons John Philbeck of Polkville, and Ricky Philbeck of Shelby, sisters Inez Embler of High Point, NC, Sarah Prewitt of Casar, Sylvia Devenny of Shelby and Coleen Hicks of Shelby, brothers Norman Philbeck of Spartanburg, SC, Leonard Melton of Forest City and James Melton of High Shoals. In addition to these she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren & 5 step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Roy Miller pastor of Rehobeth United Methodist Church.
