SHELBY - Mrs. Elnora Hamrick Eskridge, 80, of 429 Old Boiling Springs Road, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Elnora was raised in Shelby and graduated from Boiling Springs High School. Shortly after marrying her husband she settled on the family farm, built a home, and started a family. Elnora was a long time member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. She was an original member of the “Angels at Heart” Sunday school class which was known for producing cook books as a way to preserve family recipes and raise funds for the church. Elnora was formerly employed at First National Bank in Shelby. Elnora placed God first and her family and friends before herself. She was known for her sweet demeanor and was loved by all that knew her. She was affectionately known as “Nana” by the family, Elnora retired early to offer care for her grandchildren before and after school. Elnora loved spending time with family and telling old family stories. She often hosted birthday parties and holiday events at her home to encourage the family to stay connected. She will be greatly missed.
Elnora was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Steve Eskridge Her parents James Marvin Hamrick and Emma Elizabeth Hamrick and special aunt Sarah Lou Hamrick.
She is survived by son, Jeffery Eskridge (Rebecca) of Shelby; daughters; Kim Litton (Pat), of Boiling Springs and Penny Melton (Robert), of Shelby; grandchildren, Kasey Dover (Sam), Tanner Eskridge, Jake Litton, Zach Melton (Amellia), Nick Melton, Keith Inman (Megan). Great-grandchildren: Aiden, Luke, Kayleigh, Caden Inman; Norah and Charlie Dover,
Brothers Marvin Hamrick (Theresa) of Shelby and Steve Hamrick (Sandy) of Shelby. Special friends: Randy and Brenda Mull and Hugh and Carolyn Bess.
Funeral: Monday, October 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church
Visitation: The family will receive friends at 5pm before the service in the Family Life Center and at other times at the home.
Burial: Tuesday, October 18, at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery
