Emma Jean Broome Sides
Emma Jean Broome Sides, passed away on February 27, 2021 at Wendover Hospice of Cleveland County.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Sides and husband, Rick of Boiling Springs, NC, a daughter-in-law, Paula White Sides of Blacksburg, SC, three brothers, Wayne Broome of Davidson, NC, Johnny Broome and Charles Broome, both of Mooresville, NC, three grandchildren, Marisa Clark Bagwell and husband, Jimmy of Simpsonville, SC, Natalie Smart and husband, Travis of Shelby, NC, and Kristin Hughes and husband, Brian of Boiling Springs, NC, and three great grandchildren, Griffin Bagwell, Nolan Bagwell, and Grant Hughes.
Born in Mooresville, NC on January 26, 1939, Emma was the daughter of the late Buck Broome and Flora Griffen Broome. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Sides and a son, Ken Sides.
Emma was an avid basketball and sports fan. She played basketball and was in the band at Mooresville High School. Emma was proud to be a registered nurse for 20 years, retiring from Cleveland Pines in Shelby, NC. Emma was deeply involved in the community, supporting Township 3 school as well as providing money and help to those in need. Emma was affectionately known as Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 3:00pm. The family requests that those attending please respect social distancing standards and wear a mask per COVID-19 restrictions.
Memorial contributions can be made to Township 3 Elementary School Social Work Program at 526 Davis Rd, Shelby, NC 28152.
