Espy Cooke

Mr. Cooke, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2009. A resident of Century Care of Cherryville, Espy was born to the late Espy Bingham & Lois Wilson Cooke. He was a lifetime resident of Kings Mountain and a member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church, the Americam Legion and a charter member of Temple Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He served in the U. S. Air Force. "Paw Paw", as he was affectionally calle by many, was preceeded in death by his wife, Patsy Payne Cooke, a brother, William "Bud" Cooke and a grandson, Jeremy D. Cooke. Survivors include his foru sons & daughter-in-laws, Gary Cooke & Christie, Wayne Cooke & Sherry, Scott Cooke & Linda and Tony Cooke & Paige all of Kings Mountain, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. His siblings include sisters Marcella Cooke Morrow, Peggy Cooke Yarborough & Donnavie Cooke Conner all of Kings Mountain, and Deba Cooke Smith of Mt. Holly; brothers J. A. Cooke of Murels Inlet, SC, and Reginald "Butch" Cooke of Kings Mountain. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Hensley. Memorials may be made to Century Care of Cherryville in memory of Espy Cooke.
