Evelyn Davis

May 27, 1920 — November 27, 2012

Mrs. Evelyn Greene Davis, 92, of Shelby, NC, passed away at Hospice of Cleveland County

on November 27, 2012.  A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late

Cletus Burgin Greene and Lillian Powell Greene.  She was also preceded in death by her

husband, William Simon (W. S.) Davis, Jr.



Mrs. Davis retired from Dover Mill Company. She was a member of Double Springs

Baptist Church where she was a member of the Dorcus Sunday School Class, the Joy

Club, past member of the choir, and former Sunday school teacher and Training

Union leader.



She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always

put her family first.  She enjoyed reading and cooking.  She was well known for

her cakes and pies.



Survivors include her daughter, Hilda Davis Hawkins & husband, Ron of Shelby;

two grandchildren, Christopher (Chris) Hawkins and Tina Hawkins Wesson & husband,

Joe  of Shelby; two great grandchildren, Amber Hawkins & Michael Hawkins

of Shelby; and three step great grandsons, Jacob, Luke and Jonah Wesson of Shelby;

and a special friend, Betty Hendrick.



Visitation: The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center of Double

Springs Baptist Church, Friday, November 30th,  10:00 - 11:00 am

and at other times at the home of her daughter.



Funeral: The funeral will follow at 11:00 am at Double Springs Baptist Church.

Officiating: Rev. Bill Fryar
