Mr. Everette Drewery, Jr., 87 of Shelby, passed away February 27, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He is survived by eight children, Larry Drewery and wife Maria of Cliffside, NC, J.C. Drewery and wife Sheila of Lincolnton, NC, Ricky Drewery and wife Teresa of Casar, NC, Glenda McCurry and husband Ronnie of Shelby, NC, Martha Morgan of Shelby, NC, Karen Lundy of Shelby, NC, Kathy Rollins and Don Young of Denver, NC, and Pamela Strange of Cliffside, NC, three step-sons, Tony Arthur and wife Susan of Lincolnton, NC, Lee Arthur and wife Lisa of Shelby, NC, and David Arthur and wife Kim of Belmont, NC, 37 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Born June 23, 1929 in Cleveland County, Mr. Drewery was the son of the late Everette Drewery Sr. and Etta Watters Drewery and was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Marie Holland Drewery, a step-son, Jeffrey Wayne Arthur, four brothers, J.L. Drewery, Leroy Drewery, Sam Drewery, and Donald Drewery and four sisters, Maude Sisk, Annie Mae Drewery, Elma White, and Maggie Dixon.
Mr. Drewery was a member of the Old Rugged Cross. Everette worked and retired from the textile industries. He enjoyed traveling to the Amish community and eating at Pete's restaurant in Gaffney. He loved riding his horse and wagon and tinkering on old cars. Everette enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and never met a stranger that he wouldn't talk to. He always brought a smile to everyone.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 3, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Allen and Rev. Scott Caldwell. A visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
