Florence Blanton

Mrs. Florence, "Flo" Stabler Blanton left her earthly home on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 to be with Jesus after a long, courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson's Disease, with her husband of 61 years, Gene Blanton, holding her hand.



Mrs. Blanton was born June 7, 1927 to the late Frank Wesley and Wertley Christine Wise Stabler in Calhoun County, South Carolina and was the sister of the late Ernest Franklin and Melton Stabler.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a faithful servant to many. Along with her husband, she Is survived and will be sorely missed by her son, Van Blanton & wife Lynn of Sanford, NC; daughter,

Christine (Christie) Blanton Ray & husband Wesley of Belmont, NC; and her four endearing grandchildren, Becky Blanton Richardson & husband Cy of Sanford, NC; Vance Blanton of Cary, NC; and Thomas & Jonathan Ray of Belmont, NC.



In addition to all of the joy her family brought her, some of Mrs. Blanton's greatest joys came from teaching hundreds of children during her 18 years as owner of Little Beavers Kindergarten in Shelby, NC.

She also taught at Shanghai School and was the past District Leader for the Pioneers District Girl Scouts.

As an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, she served in numerous positions including the choir and U.M.W.  Mrs. Blanton also directed numerous weddings at Aldersgate while serving as the Wedding Director.



The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice Cleveland County for the excellent care and love given to Flo since 2009.  These special Hospice angels were Gwen, Bettina, Lou Ann, Jennifer, Anita, Dorothy, Priscilla, Betty, Pat, Miranda, Suzanne, Kristy, Bailey and Angela.  Her family will be eternally grateful to home caregivers Linda, Miranda, Carmen & Ana who allowed our mother to stay home with us the last years of her illness.
