Fred Jones

Mr. Jones, 89, of Shelby, NC, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Crawley Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, NC, Bill was retired from O. E. Ford Co., as a salesman with 40 years service. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, where he served in the Choir, was a former Sunday School Superintendent, teacher of McCurry Men's Sunday School Class, was a Deacon, member of Gideon International, Lattimore Lions Club, and served in the U.S. Air Force, 804 Medical Air Evacuation attached to the 5th. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents Sidney Monroe Jones & Hester Salena Green Jones, his wife Marie Justice Jones, brothers; Raymond, Ralph, Sidney, Yates, & Z.D., and sisters Macie, Artha, Ola, Pearl & Selma. Mr. Jones is surevived by two daughters and their husbands; Lynne marie Jones Lopp & Benny, of Shelby, Jean Ellen Jones Thornton & Rev. Greg of Tallahassee, FLA., a sister and brother-in-law Annie Mae Bramlett & Iverson of Lattimore, NC. In addition to these he is also survived by a granddaughter and husband Lindsey Dycus & William of Shelby, NC, a grandsons and wives Eric Lopp & Hilary of Shelby, and Kevin Thornton & Bridget of Clearwater, FLA., granddaughter Krista Thornton of Wake Forest, NC, great granddaughters Autum Hope Douglas, Madalyn Grace Lopp, Emily Claire Lopp and Casey Dycus all of Shelby, and great grandsons Russell Dotson III and Josh Dycus both of Shelby. Also Mr. Jones is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jimmy Black, Dr. Paul Sorrells, and Rev. Greg. Thornton. Memorials may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 123 Beaver Dam Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152.
