Mr. G C Curtis, 85, of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Curtis Humphries of Salisbury, NC, four grandchildren, Krista Lyerly and husband David of Salisbury, NC, Amanda Greene of Forest City, NC, Chad Humphries and wife Candy of Burlington, NC, and Tyler Ingle and wife Candace of Shelby, NC, and seven great grandchildren, Jenna Lyerly, Chad Christian Humphries, Anna Humphries, Chloe Ingle, Riley Ingle, Aaron Greene and Makenzie Greene.
Born April 4, 1931 in Cleveland County, Mr. Curtis was the son of the late Everette Curtis and Eula Walker Curtis and was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Doris Beth Bridges Curtis and a daughter, Patti Ingle.
Mr. Curtis loved the Lord. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Curtis loved his job as a teamster truck driver for Carolina Freight in Cherryville where he worked for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, #744 in Shelby. He enjoyed camping, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Monday, May 16, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
