Garvis Strickland

Mr. Garvis Lee Strickland, age 78 of Shelby, NC, peacefully passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at Kings Mountain Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 1:00 - 2:30 pm at Crestview Baptist Church, 1090 Old Boiling Springs Road, Shelby, NC. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm following the visitation, service will be conducted by Rev. Stan Webb and Rev. Ray Farrow. Burial will be held 10:00 am Monday, January 5, 2015 at Cleveland Memorial Park, Shelby, NC.
A native of Cleveland County, Mr. Strickland was a self-employed concessionaire and was a co-owner of Eagle Concessions of Shelby, NC. Garvis was a member of Camp Call Masonic Lodge Chapter 534.
He was born October 4, 1936 to the late Candler and Ola Mae Devine Strickland and was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Strickland Hendrick and a brother, William Allen Strickland.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Reba Barrett Strickland of the home, a son, Chris Sanders and Deborah Payne of Shelby, NC, a daughter, Teri Strickland of Roanoke, VA, four grandchildren, LaCosta Humphries, Collin Humphries, Cassidi Humphries, and Christian Strickland, two great grandchildren, Gia Fadorick and Tinley Humphries, four brothers, Kenneth Strickland and wife Margaret of Shelby, NC, Earl Strickland and wife Gloria of Candler, NC, Gerald Strickland and wife Myra of Shelby, NC, and Gary Strickland and wife Suzie of Shelby, NC, and a sister, Dorothy Strickland Harrison and husband Herb of Wilmington, NC.
