Gene Sullens

Mr. Sullens, 84, of 3011 Fieldstone Lane, Shelby, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Polk County, NC he was the son of the late Wiley Sullens & Lillian Smith Sullens. He was former owner of Sullens Produce & Trucking and had worked at Barry's Tire Store in Forest City for the last twenty years. Mr. Sullens was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Shelby where he was a former usher.In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his wife Dorothy Walker Sullens, three brothers and four sisters.Mr. Sullens is survived by three daughters Cindy Howard and husband Edmond of Shelby, Sherry White of Boiling Springs, SC, Barbara Sullens of Shelby and a son Barry Sullens of Shelby. Mr. Sullens grandchildren are Miranda Kinmon & husband Ritchie, Winston Howard, Brad Howard, Lyndi Forrest and husband Shannon, Kristi, Caitlin & Zachery Sullens, Nichole Thomas, Kimberly Jackson, Richard Packard & wife Lisa, great grandchildren Brittany & D.J. Packard, Jewels Jackson & Siara Thomas, and great great grandchildren Tucker Forrest & Bradley Packard. In addition to these Mr. Sullens is survived by two brothers Roy Sullens & Frank "Bill" Sullens and a sister Lorene Foster.Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Tim Sims & Dr. J. M.
