Genette Hord

Barbara Genette Warlick Hord, age 85 of Shelby, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 27, 2022.

She is survived by a brother, Buren Warlick (Joanne) of Shelby, NC, a sister, Vertie Redmond of Shelby, NC, a sister-in-law, Mary Warlick Grigg of Lawndale, NC, a special niece, Frances Overcash of Atlanta, GA, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born July 12, 1936 in Cleveland County, NC, Genette was the daughter of the late Cletus Guy Warlick and Minnie Proctor Warlick and was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Bill” Miles Hord, six brothers, John Warlick, Brady Warlick, Lawrence Warlick, Fred Warlick, Hazel Warlick, and Floyd Warlick, two sisters, Ethel Warlick Griffin and Mary Lou Warlick Maynor.

Genette worked and retired as a registered nurse.  She worked at the Shelby Hospital for more than 30 years.  Genette was in the last graduating class of the Shelby Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed decorating, shopping, and working in her yard.  Genette especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Genette was a faithful member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees including the Wellness Committee.  She will be remembered for her devotion as Chair of the Wellness committee and coordinating with the Red Cross for blood drives at the church.

A Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Rev. Tom Runyon. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
