SHELBY - George Clifford Davis, age 96, of Shelby, NC, passed away March 27, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born July 3, 1919 in Cleveland County, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Davis and Daisy Dixon Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Clifford Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Davis of Shelby; two daughters, Edith Chapman and husband Frank, Judy Davis, both of Shelby; five grandchildren, Mickey Chapman, Scarlette Chapman, Ryan Skibo, Chris Skibo, Audrey Lewis; eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren .
Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday March 29, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Eugene Bumgardner officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 till 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
