George Shuford

February 17, 1921 — April 6, 2008

Mr. Shuford, a native of Cleveland County, NC, was the retired President of Cleveland Memorial Park and Shufords Home and Garden Center. He was a veteran of the U.S.Navy where he served in WWII in the Pacific Theater. Following service in WWII, he worked for the City of Shelby. He was also a past vendor at the Shelby Farmers Marked. He was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion. He was alsoa past member and president of the Shelby Optimist Club, Shelby Jaycee's and the Rotary Club.
Mr. Shuford is preceeded in death by his parents R. L. Shuford and Maudie Mae Grigg Shuford, his wife Madeline Davis Shuford, four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Shuford is survived by a son and his wife Gary Edward Shuford and Robin of Lawndale, grandsons; Gary Shuford II and wife Leigh of Davidson, NC, Daniel Shuford of Atlanta, & Brian Shuford of Boone, granddaughters; Melanie Behles and husband Dave of Lincolnton, Terri Smith and Fiance Randy Evans of Grover, three brothers Ernest Shuford and Howard Shuford of Sheby, and Alvin Shuford of Lawndale, three sisters Mary Beth Whitener and Betty Jean Weaver of Hickory and Dorothy Martin of Fallston. Mr. Shuford is also survived by five great grandchildren.
