Gloria Jean Owens

   Mrs. Gloria Jean Owens, age 76 of Shelby, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 26, 2024.

   She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Douglas Wayne Owens of the home, her children, Mark Douglas Owens of Gastonia, NC, and Douglas Wayne Owens II (Danielle) of Boiling Springs, NC, five grandchildren, Jordan Madison Owens of Bessemer City, NC, Douglas Wayne Owens III of Boiling Springs, NC, Julianna Marie Owens of Boiling Springs, NC, Christopher Noah Centeno of Gastonia, NC, and Leonardo Elias Centeno of Gastonia, NC, two sisters, Mary Ann Stacy (Clearnie) of Gastonia, NC, and Nancy Dotson of Grundy, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

   Born July 9, 1947, in Grundy, VA, Gloria was the daughter of the late Andrew Dan Smith and Bessie Pearl Matney Smith and was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Ray Smith.

   Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She enjoyed traveling, gardening, crocheting, singing in church, and spending time with her family.  She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.  

   A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00pm Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Love Valley Baptist Church in Kings Mountain conducted by Rev. Barry Philbeck.  A visitation will be held from 3:00pm – 4:00pm prior to the service at the church.
