Harlan Edwards Jr.

Harlan Nelson Edwards Jr., age 75 of Shelby, went to be with his loving wife and his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 13, 2022.

He is survived by his three children, Christopher Edwards (Sandy) of Cherryville, NC, Bryan Edwards (Amy) of Raleigh, NC, and Jennifer Henderson (Logan) of Mooresville, NC, eight grandchildren, Rachel Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, Julia Edwards, Clara Edwards, Hannah Joy Edwards, Lila Henderson, Mallory Henderson, and Kendra Henderson, a sister, Peggy E. Baker (Rick) of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born February 6, 1947 in Cleveland County, Harlan was the son of the late Harlan Nelson Edwards Sr. and Lavon Meacham Edwards and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Ann Hamrick Edwards and a brother, Eddie Edwards.

Harlan was a loving and devoted husband to his late wife, Margaret.  Married 54 years, they were high school sweethearts.  He was a loving father and grandfather, known for his humor, whom his granddaughters affectionately called PawPaw.  Harlan was a grocery store manager for various locations in NC serving Harris Teeter for 37 years.  He enjoyed golf, striper fishing at the lake, riding his tractor, tending to his livestock, and family trips to the beach.

A Funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andy Oliver and Rev. Keith Dixon.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
