Harold Hamrick

October 19, 1929 — August 1, 2014

Bostic - Harold Paul "Hal" Hamrick of Bostic, NC passed away August 1, 2014 at the age of 84.
He was the son of the late John Paul and Christine Patterson Hamrick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rachel Summey; and niece, Kathy Cobb.
He is survived by wife, Mary Hamrick; son, Dr. Michael Hamrick and wife Joan; niece, Elizabeth Wilson and husband Reese; two nephews, Steve Summey and wife Gail, and Gene Summey and wife Becky; four great nieces; two great nephews; two great-great nieces; two great-great nephews; two brothers-in-law, Ralph Summey, and Jack Mauney and wife Betty; a number of cousins and friends.
Hal received his BA from Wofford College, and BSEE from NC State University. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was employed by General Electric and The Timken Company. He taught at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and Blue Ridge Community College. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and hiking. He was a Sunday School teacher, Methodist lay speaker, and assistant Boy Scout troop leader. He was a member of Sulpher Springs United Methodist Church.
A Memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Roy T. Byers officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
