Mrs. Burgess, 93, was born in Cleveland County
to the late
Robert Franklin Borders
& Laura
Lee Hamrick Borders.
Mrs.
Burgess retired from Fiber Industries
where
she was a lab
technician for many years.
After
retirement she worked in
after school care
at
Number
Three Elementary School. She
loved to
work word puzzles and never found one she couldn’t
solve.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church
where she had
served as a Sunday School
teacher,
played hand bells and was
a member of the Winsome
Sunday School Class as well
as the
Current Mission
Group Circle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her
husband, William Claude
Burgess, four brothers
and three sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby
Burgess of
Gastonia and
Jerry Hudson of Atlanta, GA
and three grandchildren, Laura Ball,
Kristi Applegate
and Joey Burgess. She is also survived by nine
great
grandchildren
and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to
her loving
community and
church members.
Their special care will be
l
ong remembered.
The family will receive friends at
New Hope Baptist Church,
Thursday, September 20
th
12 noon – 2:00 pm with the funeral
following.
The Revs. Russ Bradley and Tim Trexler
will officiate.
A private burial will be held.
