Helen Ledford

Mrs. Helen Harris Ledford, of Marion, NC, passed away on her 96th birthday, June 1, 2015 at Hospice House of Rutherford County. A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Marion Seventh Day Adventist Church. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm immediately following the visitation. The funeral will be conducted by Bob Koone and Rev. Ron Davis. Burial will follow at Pete Young Cemetery in Burnsville.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Radford and husband Charles, five grandchildren, Sharon Morgan Tucker, Ricky Morgan and wife Kathy, Glenda Morgan Smith and husband Ron, Stephanie Radford Truett and husband Mitch, and Ricky Radford and wife Kathy, seven great grandchildren, Michael Morgan, Kedron Morgan Hendley, Brooke Tucker Burleson, Chris Morgan, Alex Truett, Collin Truett, and Nolan Smith, six great great grandchildren, Hannah Morgan DeBoard, Grayson Morgan, Caroline Rice, Austin Hendley, Sara Burleson, and Morgan Hendley, a sister, Gladys Harris Johnson, and three special nephews, Joe Koone, Bob Koone and Charles Koone.
Born June 1, 1919 in Yancey County, Mrs. Ledford was the daughter of the late Clayton and Laura Young Harris and was preceded in death by her husbands, Vascoe Bodford and Fred Ledford and was preceded in death by a grandchild, Johnny Ray Morgan, siblings, Velma Bloudsworth, Henry Harris, Max Harris, Ray Harris, and Roscoe Harris.
Helen retired after working more than seventeen years from Pine Valley Furniture. Helen was a charter member of Marion Seventh Day Adventist Church where at one point she taught Sabbath School. She very much loved and dedicated her life to her Church. She was lovingly known as "Nanny" by her grandchildren and anyone that met her. Her passion was making quilts and giving them to family members. She also enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, canning, and spending time with her family and friends.
