Henry Skates

Mr. Henry Edward Skates, 73, of Shelby, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Towery Skates of the home, children; Evelyn Kay Skates Collins (George Gallagher) of Greensboro, NC, Walter Eugene Skates (Mayo) of Shelby, NC, and Lois Mildred Skates (Bobby Hatcher) of Shelby, NC, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Born November 4, 1943 in Cleveland County, Mr. Skates was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Skates and Gerthie Bowen Skates and was preceded in death by his sister, Faye L. Skates Smith and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Skates worked and retired from Four Leaf Textiles in Clover, SC. He enjoyed watching western movies, making potholders, and spending time with his family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, January 30, 2017 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Cleveland Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Terry Floyd.
