Mr. Horace Smith Toney, age 66, of Shelby, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late Miles Smith Toney and Ollie Estelle Wright Toney. Mr. Toney worked for Wesley Hall Furniture Company in Hickory until his retirement. He loved his family especially his grandchildren. He also loved carpentry, fixing cars, fellowshipping at church, gardening and Nascar. Mr. Toney served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of Gantts Grove Baptist Church where he was a member of the brotherhood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Toney; sister, Lois Lynn.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patricia Walker Toney of the home; mother-in-law, Geretha Walker also of the home; three daughters, Alisha Dawn Toney of Boiling Springs, Patsy Amanda Fisher and husband Steven Marcus of Boiling Springs, and Angela Marie Russ and husband Richard of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Bethany Fisher, Miles Howard, Noah Fisher, Isabella Fisher, Dusty Price, Seth Finney, and R.J. Fisher; four brothers, Rev. Lawrence Toney and wife Reba, Floyd Toney and wife Juanita, Ralph Toney and wife Ruth, and Joel Toney and wife Wilma; four sisters, Catherine Self, Irene Murray and husband Reid, Cora Crisp, and Doris Cash and husband Chester; many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
