Irene Lovelace Causby, 92, of Shelby, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014, at Shelby Manor. She was born on May 30, 1921, to the late William Pinkney "Pink" Lovelace and Bessie Anna Green Lovelace.
A native of Cleveland County, she graduated from Lattimore High School. Irene and her husband Bryan owned and operated Causby's Stop and Shop for many years in the Washburn Switch Community. She was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being a member of the Dorcus Sunday school class and served many years in the Primary Sunday school class.
She was an excellent seamstress and cake baker and spent many hours on the computer and enjoyed Word Search magazines. She was a resident of Shelby Manor, where she was treated with loving care which the family greatly appreciated.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan B. Causby; a brother and sister-in-law, Edmond and Hester Lovelace; brother-in-law, Leonard Causby; and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Causby.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her daughters, Faye Gantt and husband Johnny of Boiling Springs and Wanda Rabb and husband Glenn of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Todd Gantt and wife Ginger of Catawba, Scott Gantt of Shelby, the Rev. Michael Gantt and wife Ruby of Morganton, Jamie Rabb and fiancé Parker Rand of Los Angeles, Calif., and Wesley Rabb and wife Liz of Winston-Salem; great-grandson, Brian Gantt of Shelby; sisters-in-law, Anna Catherine Causby and Margaret Causby of Shelby; and many special nieces and nephews, including Millie and Elmer Whitaker who enjoyed spending special times together; and a special friend, Betty Hendrick.
