James Crow

June 4, 1925 — February 12, 2014

James "Gilbert" Crow, age 88, of Boiling Springs, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late Fay Crow and Vetra Greene Crow. He is a US Army veteran having served in WWII. He was wounded while fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Crow worked and later retired from Gaffney Manufacturing Company after 30 years of service. After retirement he took a part-time job at Ingles as a bagger. He enjoyed working at Ingles because he got to interact with so many people. He was raised on a farm and always had a love for gardening. He was a previous member of Boiling Springs Fire Department. Mr. Crow was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and the Bob Abrams Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Aileen Crow.

He is survived by his son, Ray Crowe and wife Faye of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Betty Hastings of Boiling Springs and Nancy Funderburke and husband Tom of Earl; three grandchildren, Michael Crowe and wife Robyn of Birmingham, AL, Jonathan Crowe and Daniel Crowe both of Boiling Springs; three great grandchildren, Addie, Lydia, and Eleanor Crowe; two caregivers, Frances Collins and Christine Oglesby; numerous nieces and nephews.
