James Young

Mr. Young, 79, of 703 Cherry Lane, Shelby, NC, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at his home. A native of Greenville County, SC, he retired from Duke Power Company where he was employed for 30 years. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, served 20 years as Commander of American Legion, past 23rd. District Commander of American Legion, past Commander of DAV, past President of the Veterans Counsel, a member of VFW, Amvets and the National Order of Trench Rats. A veteran of the Army Airforce, he served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Young was preceeded in death by his parents James Alexander Young Sr. & Lorene Benson Young. Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 54 years Faye Spencer Young of Brian Center, Gastonia, two sons; William "Bill" Young fo Brian Center, Gastonia, and Jimmy Dean Young & wife Kathy of Shelby. Mr. Young also has a grandson Jushua Young of Shelby, a special cousin Helen Gravley, caregiver & friend Rhonda Hull and son Jamie, special friends, Tammy Walker & Janice Morton. Funeral Services will be conducted by the Rev. Henry Nichols pastor of Victory Baptist Church.
