James "Jim" Sisk Sr.

James “Jim” David Sisk Sr., age 87 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 20, 2022.

He is survived by his children, James David Sisk Jr. of Shelby, NC, and Tammy Ledbetter (Clark) of Shelby, NC, 5 grandchildren, Olivia (T.J.), Luke, Madison, Zachary, and Cade, three sisters, Carolyn Morrow (Archie) of Shelby, NC, Janet Clontz (Jerry) of Shelby, NC, and Vickie Morrison (Steve) of Cedar Point, NC, a brother, Danny Sisk (Sharon) of Leland, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born December 23, 1934 in Cleveland County, James was the son of the late William Sisk and Maude Drewery Sisk and was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Jacquelyn Bridges Sisk, three sisters, Margie Lemmons, Sarah Elam, and Shirley Sisk, and a brother, Ronald Sisk.

Jim was a faithful charter member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and previously taught Sunday School and led the choir.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.  Jim loved to garden and taking care of animals.  He loved to tell stories of how he had met the love of his life, Jackie.  He worked for more than 50 years as a plant manager in the textile industry. Jim graduated from Cleveland Community College with two degrees.   Jim also served in the United States Army serving overseas in Germany.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Morris Memorial Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Chris Emery.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church and following the committal service at the cemetery.  Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
