Janice Mayes

Janice Walker Mayes, age 76 of Mooresboro, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Peak Resources in Shelby.
She is survived by two nieces, Sherry McCraw of Mooresboro, NC, and Kim Lockridge and husband Mark of Rutherfordton, NC, and a grandson, Ricky Gillespie of Texas.
Born June 24, 1939 in Cleveland County, Janice was the daughter of the late Ed Walker and Ruby Allen Lee and was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Gillespie and a brother, Allen Gerald Walker.
Janice was a friend to many, including many Pen Pals across the United States. She loved being with family and friends. She enjoyed watching wrestling, Nascar racing, and working on crossword puzzles.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, January 18, 2016 at Sandy Run Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Andrew Rawls. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
