Jerry Lingerfelt

June 12, 1942 — January 23, 2018

Mr. Jerry Dwight Lingerfelt, age 75 of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay S. Lingerfelt of the home; children, Todd Lingerfelt of Shelby, NC, and Amy Lingerfelt Owens and husband Bobby Owens Jr. of Shelby, NC; a granddaughter, Chelse Parson and husband Troy of Shelby, NC; a great granddaughter, Tully Grace Parson; a brother, Robert Lingerfelt of Blacksburg, SC; sisters, Betty Jean Kendrick and husband Lowery of Shelby, NC, and Susie Woods of Shelby, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born June 12, 1942 in Cleveland County, Mr. Lingerfelt was the son of the late Cline Benjamin Lingerfelt and Mary Elizabeth Godley.
Jerry was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church where he participated in the Ron Woods Sunday School Class. He served proudly in the United States Army as an Air Traffic Controller. Jerry was an avid golfer, loved to watch the Hornets and Panthers, and Nascar. Jerry had a dry sense of humor and would always be available to help anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am Friday, January 26, 2018 at Cleveland Funeral Services. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am at Cleveland Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Sarah C. Underwood.
