Mr. Jesse Lee Williams, 79, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby.
He is survived by six children, J.L. Williams and wife April of Shelby, NC, Brenda Green and husband David of Mooresboro, NC, Judy Smith and husband Larry of Jacksonville, FL, Alice Willis and husband Gene of Shelby, NC, Charlie Morrow and Debbie of Shelby, NC, and Kris Morrow Lahrmer and husband John of Mooresboro, NC, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a special furry companion, Max, a brother, James "Butch" Williams of Cherryville, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Born May 9, 1937 in Cleveland County, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Coleman and Ola Davis Williams and was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Ann Queen Williams, three brothers, C.J. Williams, Thurman Williams, and Coleman "Curly" Williams and two sisters, Mary Sue Williams and Sarah Williams.
Mr. Williams worked and retired after 35 years from PPG. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, he loved his church family. He enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling with Barbara, coaching softball, and eating at the Snack Shop. Jesse also loved auctions, flea markets, and yards sales. Mr. Williams served in the United States National Guard working as a heavy equipment operator. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog Max.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 6, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tony Sisk. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Morrow, David Green, Justin Williams, Michael Morrow, Scotty Morrow, and Jeremy Morrow.
