John Chapman

Mr. John Tellis Chapman, Sr., 95, of Shelby, passed away on

September 8, 2012. Mr. Chapman was a retired supervisor for

the N. C. Department of Agriculture. He was a member of

Shelby New Bethel Church of the Nazarene and was very

passionate for his church.   He was an avid gardener and

a good carpenter. He served his country in the Army Air

Corps during WWII.

He was the son of the late  John S. Chapman and

Dalzie Kincaid Chapman. He was also preceded in death by

his wife, Edna M. Chapman and three brothers, Hershel Chapman,

Roy Chapman & Moran Chapman.

Mr. Chapman is survived by his son, John T. Chapman, Jr. and his

wife,  Agnes of Monroe; a step grandchild, Melanie Atkins of

Melbourne, FL; a sister, Annie Mae Burns of Morganton; a brother,

Merlie C. Chapman of Morganton and a sister-in-law, Bea Chapman.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 11 ^th at

Shelby New Bethel Church of the Nazarene

10:00 – 11:00 am with the service following at 11:00 am.

The Rev. Mark Patchett will officiate.

A private burial will be held.
