John Corey

Mr. Corey, 90, of Shelby, NC, passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Niagara Falls, NY, he was retired from P.P.G. Industries as director of testing. Mr. Corey was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church of Shelby, the Society of Plastics Industry, a Fellow of American Society of Testing Materials, Member of National Railway Historical Society, and after his retirement was a volunteer for Discovery Place, an a member of the Planetary Society. He was also a veteran of WW II as a Major in the U.S. Army Quarter Master Corp.

Mr. Corey was preceeded in death by his parents Harry Corey & Gertrude Rice Corey, his wife Dorothy Reba Kemnitzer Corey and a brother Harry Corey.

Mr. Corey is survived by a son John "Jack" Corey Jr. of the home and fiance Rosemary Wood, a granddaughter and her husband Kelly Beebe and Jim, and a great grandson Michael Beebe.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Erbskorn pastor of Ascension Lutheran Church of Shelby.
