John Elam

Mr. Elam, 64, of Shelby passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009. A native of Cleveland County, he was an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance for 28 years. He was a graduate of Shelby High School, Gardner-Webb College and a member of Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Elam werved in the U. S. Army and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also had a special love of horses and dogs.
Mr. Elam was preceeded in death by his parents Reuben Lee Elam & Libby Edna McCurry Elam.
Mr. Elam is survived by his wife Patricia Elam of the home, two daughters Julie Elam & Brian Morton of Denver, CO, Kim Boaze & husband Jason of Greensboro, a brother George Elam & wife Toni Kratt of Charlotte, two sisters Martha Sheppard & Elizabeth Mascarenhas both of Raleigh. Mr. Elam is also survived by two granddaughters Mackenzie Boaze & Austin Boaze, and a best friend Tony Hastings.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Tim Elmore pastor of Zion Baptist Church,
