John Gold

John Henderson Gold, age 57 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Laura Allen Gold of the home, a daughter, Lauren Deaton and husband Zachary of Shelby, NC, a grandson, Barrett Deaton of Shelby, NC, and a brother, Brian Gold of Shelby, NC.

Born July 13, 1964 in Cleveland County, John was the son of William and Jackie (Morrison) Gold and was preceded in death by a son, Matt Gold, a brother, Robert Gold, and his grandparents, Sam and Patsy Gold and Jenkins and Viola Morrison.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.  He was a faithful member of Double Springs Baptist Church where he served on the Brotherhood and Building/Grounds Committees.  John worked as a Cleveland County building inspector for more than 20 years.  John enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, farming, and riding his grandson on the Ranger around the family farm.  He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.  He was the kind of person that would drop what he was doing to help others in times of need.  John had great mechanical skills that in many times was called upon.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, August 16, 2021 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel.  During the visitation, masks will be required.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Double Springs Baptist Church cemetery conducted by Rev. Bill Fryar.
