John Gold

John Greer Gold, 81, passed away on September 2, 2021, at Peak Resources in Shelby.

He is survived by a son, Tim Gold and wife, Christine of Riverside, AL and a daughter, Tonia McCurry and husband, Mark of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Emily and Samantha McCurry of Shelby, NC, and Noah and Kayla Gold of Riverside, AL, and a brother, Joe Gold and wife, Linda of Shelby, NC.

Born in Cleveland county on October, 17, 1939, John was the son of the late Greer and Eva Hoyle Gold. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Emily Yelton Gold.

John was a devoted Christian and was a life long member of Bethel Baptist in Shelby. He served his country honorably in the Navy and then worked in textiles for a number of years. John was an avid outdoorsmen where he loved spending time outdoors with his son, hunting and trapping game. John was a dedicated family man, and was known affectionately to his grandchildren as Paw Paw John.

A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2:00pm at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with a visitation held one hour prior. A burial will follow the funeral service at Cleveland Memorial Park where military honors will be rendered.
